| cold call fun Let's face it, most pranks you can play on telemarketers are obvious and not so clever - keeping them on hold, asking them "what are you wearing" etc. WeI want to focus on how we can cost them money, or, as in the first item, how we might even make money ourselves. Don't bother submitting unless what you have is very special. This is a cool idea. we like anything that uses the system against itself. We are sure there is nothing illegal about it, but wonder if it works? Does anyone know if there is a recording saying "this will cost you $5/minute" at the beginning? You can tell we don't call them often :-) Instructions: 1) Register a premium rate number with Telstra or one of those 1 900 services. 2) Buy the Sunday Paper, and a couple of "lifestyle magazines". 3) Hold each publication by the spine, and shake liberally so that all the advertising inserts fall out. 4) Fill in every single one of them, using a bogus postal address, but including your premium rate number. Also tick the "Please pass on my details" box. 5) Stay in, and answer the phone. Talk excitedly to every cold call you get, regularly saying "Could you just hold on a minute?". 5b) When you get a call say "can you call me back on my 1900 number - I have asked just to check, it is amazing how many will do it, they bill the client all call costs, so they don't care. 6) Repeat 7) Collect cheques for your share of the call revenue. 8) Retire happily on the proceeds (If you can resist the temptation to buy what the cold caller is selling). |
